“Grade” Depression

Some children receive almost no encouragement from their parents regarding their performance at school, while other children receive too much pressure from their over enthusiastic parents which can have a negative impact on the child.

– Why do you think some parents put too much pressure on their children to perform well at school?

– What do you think the role of a parent should be in their child`s education?
Different nationalities and different households look at the practice of applying pressure on their children to study differently.

Eastern nations incline to apply more and harsher pressure on their children to perform well. This may come from their culture or how the parents’ parents treated them during their youth.

As parents want their children to have the best future and to succeed, they are trying their hardest to make this possible. Some parents may not realize what consequences the pressure may have on their children: depression, self-hatred and low self-esteem.

Parents should instead have talks with their children about not worrying too much about low school performance. Thus, children will feel loved, respected and understood by their parents.
